At the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, we’re evolving how we deliver value to our members, learners and partners. As part of that journey, we are strengthening our product leadership to ensure our digital platforms, services and learning experiences continue to meet the needs of an evolving profession.
We now seek a Product Director to help shape and guide this exciting next phase.
Opportunity
This is a strategic leadership role focused on evolving how we approach product management across the organisation. We have strong delivery capability and committed teams in place and are now looking to introduce a more consistent product management approach that brings greater clarity to how opportunities are identified, prioritised and delivered.
You will play a key role in connecting customer needs, organisational priorities and delivery teams helping to ensure that we are focusing effort in the right areas to achieve meaningful, evidence led, outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Shape and embed a clear, pragmatic approach to product management across our portfolio
- Work closely with delivery, technology and commercial teams to support effective decision making
- Establish clear ownership of product direction ensuring insight and strategic priorities are reflected in what we build
- Bring structure and rhythm to product planning, prioritisation and review through the introduction of the institute’s first Product System.
What we’re looking for
- Has experience building product functions or portfolios in small to mid-size organisations
- Understands the distinction between product management and product delivery and how the two work best together
- Is comfortable operating at both strategic and practical levels
- Can bring clarity without unnecessary process
- Understands how an effective Product System can be the counterbalance between customer value creation, organisational goals, commercial aspiration and delivery constraints
- High level of pragmatism, thoughtfulness and ability to navigate change positively
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills including GTM
- Experience with education or learning products with expertise in finance (a bonus if payroll!)

Terms and Conditions:
Salary TBC (depending on experience)
Working week 37 hour working week (full-time)
Annual leave 26 days annual leave per annum (plus BHs)
Location: Hybrid (at least 1 day per week office-based in Solihull)
